Assalam o alaikum. What I am looking for in my spouse is a partner to learn about islam and improve my iman and taqwa with. Understand that islam is a way of life and practising it is the ultimate goal. She should have an open mind about the rules and laws of islam and have a clear concept that islam is what the quran and sahih hadith says and should be willing to adjust accordingly. I understand that it takes time to accept change, and iman in the heart of a muslim grows slowly so one should have that patience and persistent in path to gain knowledge of islam. I believe that Allah knows what is best for us even if we don't find any logic in certain things. One of those rules of Allah is about the duties and rights of husband and wife. Scholars have compiled a list of duties extracted from sahih hadith and quran. There might be clauses of the list which i don't agree with, but i believe that if we follow that just having faith in allah then allah will create love and mercy between the husband and wife. I will attach that document. Other than that it's the fitrat of men to long for beauty, intelligence, family etc, I am no different, but all of these becomes secondary when someone has the inner beauty of taqwa - so that’s what i am looking for.
